Artiste indépendant, Joshua Cotter a publié plusieurs récits remarqués aux U.S.A. comme en France. C'est par l'intermédiaire de l'éditeur çà et là que nous avons pu découvrir les talents de l'américain, tant graphiquement que narrativement.
Les gratte-ciels du Midwest nous avaient présentés des souvenirs d'enfance douloureux pour l'auteur à travers un ouvrage saupoudré d'un imaginaire captivant. Dernièrement, nous avons pu parcourir DÉPLACEMENT [DEPLASMÃ], un récit encore plus fou se déroulant dans une station spatiale.
Le 7 juillet 2017, l'auteur qui est souvent très discret a publié un message à tous ses fans en leur indiquant que depuis plus d'un an, il s'était vu approché par la chaîne HBO, à qui l'on doit des séries comme Game of Thrones ou Westworld, pour que Nod Away, titre original de DÉPLACEMENT [DEPLASMÃ], fasse l'objet d'une adaptation. Joshua Cotter avoue que le projet est toujours en cours et qu'un showrunner a même été engagé. Une bonne nouvelle pour l'artiste américain et qui donnera peut-être lieu à un futur classique télévisuel tant les productions HBO sont surveillées de très prêt.

Ok. I've been sitting on this for about a year. I'm pretty excited about it but wasn't sure if I could or should talk about it. I got an 'okay' today, so here you go. I've been working with HBO on developing a dramatic live action adaptation of 'Nod Away'. It's still in development and there are plenty of opportunities for the project to fall apart before it makes it to series, but so far things are going really well. I spent the last couple months working on a series outline for them to refer to, I finished it last week and am now back to working on the book itself. We have a showrunner in place (I'll keep their identity under wraps for now, but I'm amazed on a daily basis to be working with them) and they're working on their pitch for the pilot. So far I've been really impressed with how closely HBO is keeping me involved with the project and I can't think of a production company I'd rather be working with. Anyway. I'm still kind of having difficulty wrapping my brain around all of it. I'm keeping my hopes in check, but we're working really hard to make it a reality. If it happens, if it doesn't happen... I'll be making comics regardless. So back to it. Have a good weekend.
